Click the "Start" button in the bottom left corner of the screen and browse through the software listed in the Programs menu. If you find one, launch it and see if the software can be shut down from within that utility. Click the "Applications" tab and see if the emulation software is listed as an active program. If it is, right-click the program and select "End Task" from the pop-up menu.
Click the "Processes" tab on the Task Manager. Scan the list of processes to see if any of them are obviously related to your computer's emulation software or virtual drives. If you aren't sure if a process is related, don't do anything to it. But if you are sure you've found the process behind your emulation software, right-click it and select "End Process" from the pop-up menu. Otherwise, proceed to the next step. Click the Start button and select Run. Enter devmgmt.
Right-click on the virtual drive and select "Disable" from the pop-up menu to bypass the emulation software entirely and shut it down. Dec 03, I am now having the same problem as well. Dec 03, Yup, same problem here after the patch.
Ripped everything out that I could, tore windows registry apart and re installed X2 and it ran once. In the end I had to reformat the hard drive. Dec 03, I had a similar issue XP In the My Computer folder, right-click on your writer.
Just a suggestion Dec 03, Had this problem myself and found the fix myself as well. Looks like Securom doesn't like UDF-formatted discs in any drive. So latter I boot up X2 and guess what? So Egosoft, what now, do I throw my game or my cd-rw in the bin? Please advice. PS: I have no emulator software of any sort on my computer.
Dec 03, I don't think you will get an answer from Egosoft or teh Mods. This topic has been alive for 12 days, and not a single rpely from either of the above groups. We are being shafted.
Now I'm not normally a person that goes for this sort of hysterical ranting. But I've never been affected by copy protection before. I've had two BSOD's since the 25th, and about 4 in 2 years. I was given X2 for Christmas. I don't want to hear any crap about instability in my system. It runs for months. I have no objection to Egosoft using copy protection. I think some CD copy protection conflicts with those emulators.
What do you mean when you use the term "just updated"? Generally speaking, old games do not always keep on working correctly after the drivers that had been working are changed for newer ones. This is a six year old game. More detail on this can be found at the website mentioned in the error message: A potential conflict with a Disc Emulator Software was detected.

Anyway I already followed the last list of steps in the last post and got a response so I'll see if it works. Wolfgang9Hype Topic Creator 12 years ago 7.
