The has started on the first pull every year. I've read some of the other comments and totally disagree. If you are doing bigger jobs, buy a bigger motor. I bought this mower toward the end of mowing season last summer.

The second time it was used it started revving and slowing repeatedly - enough so I almost decided to return it. But before doing that I checked the air filter and it was clogged where the air was allowed to pass thru the sponge. I scraped the debris with a blade enough to get the mower running again. The main problem is the mower creates its own dust cloud and of course the air filter will get clogged in such an environment.

When operating without the flimsy bag, debris flows from the back of the mower toward the front and ultimately clogs the filter. I am resigned to cleaning the filter after one or two uses. By the way, gasoline does a really good job of cleaning the filter.

My experiences with Craftsman mowers goes back a long ways. The last one lasted something like 17 years so I have no axe to grind with Craftsman mowers - this one just doesn't have the quality of design of most. I bought this product in April last year and it died on me exactly a year after the purcahse date. I was fooled by the 2 year manufacturer warranty but when it came to fixing the item the repair bill was twice as much the actual price of the item. Avoid this peace of crap if possible.

Buy some Murray, Yard Man or Honda. This is no good at all. This was my first experience buying a Craftsman product and it wasn't a pleasant one at all.

Their warranty is useless and you can never use it even if you are still within warranty period. This was a total rip-off and I may have to report it so.

Since purchase date, it has been one problem after another. Today, she called me to look at it, I found the engine compression locked, oil pouring out the exhaust after I took the plug out to relieve the pressure, and STILL no power.

After this, my problem with a Craftsman tractor, YT and a Craftsman weedeater that only lasted two years. It ran great for 7 years until this season. Couldn't get the pig started, cleaned the carb twice. It ran but, very hard to start since it had no primer. The Sears salesman said most people don't like the primer.

Don't know why because the primer injects fuel into the carb and bowl to help it start. The more expensive Sear's mowers had no primer. Big no no in my opinion. Any carbed motor needs a primer. Unless the mower is fuel injected obviously, but I don't think we're there yet.

Started first pull everytime with no trouble at all.
